Planet

Protect the planet

At WSA we focus on the entire value chain when it comes to reducing environmental impact.

At WSA we want to contribute to meeting global climate goals, limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5°C, and reducing biodiversity loss.

We believe a circular business model is the right way forward. A circular business model is about keeping materials in the usage phase for as long as possible, reduce the extraction of natural resources, and reduce the generated wastes.

The circular business model is enabled by design, realized by operation, and sorted by business partners such as customers and suppliers.

Reduce greenhouse gas emissions

By advancing towards a circular business model, working closely with stakeholders in our value chain, we are not only making more efficient use of natural resources, but also reducing our greenhouse gas emissions.

At WSA we are committed to delivering on the following goals

This year, our Net-Zero target was successfully validated under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Net-Zero Standard, with a target year of 2049/50. This validation reflects WSA’s strengthened commitment to decarbonize across our operations and value chain in line with climate science. These targets are compatible with the objective of limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, in line with the Paris Agreement. Having achieved a 72% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions last year compared to our base year, surpassing our prior near-term target of 50%, we have now raised our ambition. Our updated near-term target is an 80% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2029/30 against our original base year. For Scope 3 emissions, we have established a new base year of 2023/24 to reflect significant improvements in our accounting methodology, driven by the increased availability of primary activity data. Our ambition remains unchanged: a 30% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2029/30.
